Angkor Wat is the name of the entire temple complex that spans over 400 acres outside of Siem Reap, Cambodia. The temple was built in the first half of the 12th century — it’s incredible that it is still standing today! It’s gone through several rulers and was once forgotten in the jungle.
It was “rediscovered” in 1860 by a Frenchmen. In the 20th century, restoration began on Angkor Wat and finally in 1992 it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site.




Angkor Wat is filled with incredible decorations and carvings in the wall, these are just some examples:

Angkor Thom is located near Angkor Wat and was the capitol city of the Khmer Empire! It’s incredible to see the trees that have grown into the temples:

The Bayon Temple is at the center of Angkor Thom. There are are so many intricately carved faces and heads in Bayon Temple.
