Where To Stay in New Orleans: The Old No. 77 Hotel

I recently went on a girls weekend trip and stayed in one of the coolest hotels in New Orleans! The Old No. 77 Hotel and Chandlery is a historic boutique hotel right in downtown NOLA, just a couple blocks from the French Quarter!

If you are looking for the best place to stay in New Orleans with good hotel room deals, then look no further than The Old No. 77 Hotel and Chandlery.

The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter which means it is close enough to be convenient, but not right in the middle of it so it’s not too loud and crazy at night!

Major Bonus? The Old No. 77 Hotel is pet-friendly! Pet beds, bowls, and treats are provided upon arrival! They’ll even recommend things to do in New Orleans that are dog friendly.

The Old No. 77 Hotel: The Lobby

The history of this hotel is apparent from the moment you walk into the lobby! The Old No. 77 Hotel was first built in 1854 and served as a warehouse for the Port of New Orleans.

Lets be honest… I didn’t use it, but for those who like to work out and stay in shape while traveling, they do have a pretty nice gym onsite!

The Old No. 77 Hotel partners with the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts and features local New Orleans art pieces all throughout the hotel.

We stayed in a premium room and it was HUGE! It was just two of us, but it would have easily been big enough for 4 people to share comfortably.

They have many different rooms to choose from, check them out here (all look just as wonderfully decorated as ours).

The decor and furniture are just as you’d hope for in a cool, boutique hotel! I think it’s safe to say that they are the best decorated hotel rooms in New Orleans. 😉

The beds are comfy, AND they even have a pillow menu… you can request soft, medium, firm, extra firm, and neck and body!

I appreciated the cheeky door hangers… They aren’t something you’d find in just any ole NOLA hotel and I really like that!

The Old No. 77 Hotel: The Restaurant and Bar

We were only in NOLA for a short 48 hours and didn’t have chance to try the restaurant located in the hotel, Compère Lapin. But after reading more about it, I’m pretty bummed we didn’t:

“Melding the soul of the Caribbean with the unparalleled flavors of New Orleans, Compère Lapin is a highlight of the local dining scene… Compère Lapin was named New Orleans’ 2016 Restaurant of the Year by The Times-Picayune. Chef Nina Compton highlights the indigenous ingredients of the Gulf while melding the cusine of her Caribbean upbringing with her love of French and Italian techniques.” – from the Old No. 77 Hotel website.

I did manage to snap some pics of the restaurant and bar. At night it was packed, so it must be a cool spot!

Last but certainly not least, they have a super convenient grab and go coffee shop right in the lobby! In addition to a full coffee menu, they also offer house-made pastries each morning!

  1. It’s very unique hotel! It reminds me when I was in the little town Williams. I also stayed in one of the historical hotel. Hope I could visit this place one day thanks for sharing! 😉

  2. In Geometry Dash Lite, time is crucial. You’ll dash through neon worlds full of spikes and traps, guided solely by the rhythm of the music. One mistake will reset your progress, but mastering each level feels extremely satisfying.

  3. I love discovering boutique hotels that actually feel authentic, not just trendy. The Old No. 77 clearly has history, personality, and space — which is rare downtown. The pillow menu and local art are such thoughtful touches. Whenever I plan trips like this, I compare impressions from different travelers and keep practical info handy, like the HotelGuides phone number, especially when booking popular spots. Honest experiences from other guests really help decide if a hotel is truly worth it.

  4. This looks like such a great place to stay in New Orleans! Love the mix of historic charm and modern design — and the location sounds perfect for exploring the city.

  5. The industrial charm and curated art aesthetic of a New Orleans boutique hotel stay are unforgettable, but coming back to our plain city patio felt dishearteningly dull. Wanting to recreate that artistic, relaxed vibe at home, we started searching for bold exterior pieces that blend modern comfort with architectural style. Finding inspiration on https://viadellaseta.design/brands/ego-paris/helped us completely reimagine our outdoor courtyard into a stylish retreat. Furnishing the space with modular Ego Paris seating brought vibrant colors, clean aluminum lines, and a warm hotel-lounge atmosphere right to our doorstep. Now having coffee on our terrace gives us that same inspiring escape every morning.

  6. I enjoyed the ideas in this guide on Where To Stay in New Orleans, especially the focus on finding a hotel that makes exploring the city comfortable and memorable. It also reminded me that a great trip is a chance to refresh your personal style, and pieces from Broyhill can inspire that same sense of comfort and timeless design. Whether you’re choosing a polished outfit for dinner or casual clothes for walking around New Orleans, upgrading your wardrobe with versatile, well-made pieces can make your stay feel even more enjoyable.
