1. Goldendoodle Puppy Supplies

Collar and Leash:  Choose a sturdy yet comfortable collar and leash to suit your Goldendoodle’s size.

ID Tag: Ensure your pup’s ID tag is up-to-date with your contact information.

Food and Water Bowls: Opt for easy-to-clean, non-tip bowls. If your Goldendoodle puppy is a big eater, consider using slow feeder bowls, dispensing toys, or puzzle boards instead — mine LOVES them, and it’s great mental exercise too.

Goldendoodle Puppy Food: Consult your vet for the best puppy food, considering your Goldendoodle’s age, size, and specific dietary needs.

Treats: Training treats and rewards are essential for positive reinforcement. My favorites are these brands – they have high-quality ingredients and no unnatural additives:

Crate: A crate provides a safe space for your puppy and helps with potty training.

Bedding: Comfortable bedding helps your puppy get a good night’s sleep, but best to wait to introduce it until after they’re potty trained.

Toys: Goldendoodles are playful, so invest in a variety of toys for mental stimulation and entertainment. These are my puppy’s favorites:

Teething Chews: Puppies that are teething desperately need something to chew! These are great for relieving teething pain + keep them from chewing things they aren’t supposed to:

Poop Bags: Responsible pet ownership includes cleaning up after your pup during walks — stock up on lots of poop bags.

2. Goldendoodle Puppy Checklist: Health and Safety

Vet Appointments: Schedule your Goldendoodle’s first vet visit to discuss vaccinations, preventive care, and overall health.

Puppy Vaccinations: Follow the recommended vaccine schedule to protect your pup from common diseases.

Flea and Tick Control: Consult your vet for the best prevention method, as Goldendoodles can have different coat types.

Microchipping: Consider microchipping your Goldendoodle for added security. A lot of times your breeder will have already done this.

First Aid Kit: Have a basic first-aid kit on hand for minor injuries.

Grooming Supplies: Goldendoodles have gorgeous, low-shedding coats and while it is nice they don’t shed, they do require a little extra upkeep and grooming. Invest in quality brushes, clippers, and shampoo and conditioner to keep them well-groomed. These are the ones I use for Poppy:

3. Training and Socialization

Training Books or Classes: Explore resources or enroll in puppy training classes tailored to the unique needs of Goldendoodles.

Socialization Opportunities: Goldendoodles are friendly dogs. Arrange playdates and interactions with other dogs and people to develop their social skills.

Clicker or Training Whistle: A clicker or other tools can assist in positive reinforcement training. I personally don’t use these now, but have in the past, and many people swear by it!

Potty Training Pads: If you’re potty training (especially in an apartment or don’t have a yard), potty pads can be a lifesaver.

Patience and Time: Goldendoodles thrive on attention and love, so spend quality time with your pup to bond and create a strong connection.

Snuggles and Play: Doodle puppies adore playtime and affection, so engage in plenty of cuddles and interactive play.

Positive Reinforcement: Use praise, treats, and affection to reward good behavior.
