1. Goldendoodle Puppy Supplies
Food and Water Bowls: Opt for easy-to-clean, non-tip bowls. If your Goldendoodle puppy is a big eater, consider using slow feeder bowls, dispensing toys, or puzzle boards instead — mine LOVES them, and it’s great mental exercise too.Â
Goldendoodle Puppy Food:Â Consult your vet for the best puppy food, considering your Goldendoodle’s age, size, and specific dietary needs.
Treats: Training treats and rewards are essential for positive reinforcement. My favorites are these brands – they have high-quality ingredients and no unnatural additives:
- Pupford
- Vital Essentials
- Crumps NaturalsÂ
- Instinct RawBoosters Mixers (technically food toppers but I use them as treats)
Crate: A crate provides a safe space for your puppy and helps with potty training.
- Favorite: Petsfit Soft Fabric Crate (it’s also super easy to pack and take with you, folds flat)
- Popular Basic Metal Crate: Midwest
- Aesthetic Crate:Â Casual Home Sidetable Crate
- Splurge: Diggs Crate
Poop Bags: Responsible pet ownership includes cleaning up after your pup during walks — stock up on lots of poop bags.
2. Goldendoodle Puppy Checklist: Health and Safety
Vet Appointments: Schedule your Goldendoodle’s first vet visit to discuss vaccinations, preventive care, and overall health.
Puppy Vaccinations:Â Follow the recommended vaccine schedule to protect your pup from common diseases.
Flea and Tick Control: Consult your vet for the best prevention method, as Goldendoodles can have different coat types.
Microchipping: Consider microchipping your Goldendoodle for added security. A lot of times your breeder will have already done this.
First Aid Kit: Have a basic first-aid kit on hand for minor injuries.
Grooming Supplies: Goldendoodles have gorgeous, low-shedding coats and while it is nice they don’t shed, they do require a little extra upkeep and grooming. Invest in quality brushes, clippers, and shampoo and conditioner to keep them well-groomed. These are the ones I use for Poppy:
3. Training and Socialization
Training Books or Classes: Explore resources or enroll in puppy training classes tailored to the unique needs of Goldendoodles.
Socialization Opportunities: Goldendoodles are friendly dogs. Arrange playdates and interactions with other dogs and people to develop their social skills.
Clicker or Training Whistle: A clicker or other tools can assist in positive reinforcement training. I personally don’t use these now, but have in the past, and many people swear by it!
Potty Training Pads: If you’re potty training (especially in an apartment or don’t have a yard), potty pads can be a lifesaver.

4. Creating a Goldendoodle-Friendly Home
Puppy-Proof Your Home: Remove hazards and create a safe environment, taking into account your Goldendoodle’s playful nature.Â

Gates and Barriers: Use gates to restrict access to certain areas, such as the kitchen or stairs.
Cleaning Supplies: Be prepared for accidents with pet-friendly stain and odor removers.
5. Love and Attention for your Goldendoodle Puppy
Patience and Time: Goldendoodles thrive on attention and love, so spend quality time with your pup to bond and create a strong connection.
Snuggles and Play: Doodle puppies adore playtime and affection, so engage in plenty of cuddles and interactive play.
Positive Reinforcement:Â Use praise, treats, and affection to reward good behavior.

With this Goldendoodle puppy checklist, you’re well-prepared to provide your furry Goldendoodle with a joyful and secure start in your home. Keep in mind that every Goldendoodle is unique, so tailor your preparations to suit your pup’s individual needs.Â
