Highlights from the Austin Oyster Festival 2018
Fact: I can eat my weight in oysters. So, of course, I was pumped to go to the Oyster Fest in Austin! With so many different offerings, Rachel and I were both absolutely stuffed by the end of it. Here’s my rundown and review of the Austin Oyster Festival 2018:
Raw Bar with Gulf and East Coast Oysters
They had both Gulf and East Coast oysters available to try. The East coast ones were more expensive, so ignorantly, I assumed they were the better ones. Wrong-o. They were a lot smaller, and not as flavorful. The Gulf oysters, on the other hand, were fantastic!

That Fry Bar Tho…
As a sucker for anything fried, I knew I was going to like this area. The Fry Bar included:
- Crispy Oyster Banh Mi
- New Orleans Style Oyster and Shrimp Po’Boys
- Pommes Frites
- Baked Banana’s Foster Bread Pudding with Amy’s Ice cream

Austin Oyster Festival: The Grill Bar
My mouth watered just looking at all the delicious offerings they had at the Grill Bar. Everything was cooked to perfection:
- Smoked Bacon Oysters Rockefeller
- Grilled Oysters with Roasted Garlic Anchovy Butter
- Creole BBQ Butter Shrimp over Grilled Garlic Bread
- Oyster and Rock Shrimp Gumbo with Andouille Sausage
- Smoked Oyster and Roasted Corn Bread Pudding

And of course, the Bar Bar 😉

So what do you think? Are you in for the Oyster Fest next year!? Let me know in the comments below!

The cuisine in this area is truly impressive.
What an incredible recap of the Austin Oyster Festival! The variety of oyster preparations – from raw Gulf oysters to the indulgent grilled options – sounds absolutely mouthwatering. It reminds me of the vibrant culinary scene at 19 Cleveland in Nolita, New York. Their menu offers a delightful fusion of Mediterranean flavors, with dishes like Hamachi Ceviche and Yemeni Duck Tacos that transport your taste buds to Tel Aviv. If you’re ever in NYC, https://19cleveland.com/ is a must-visit for an unforgettable dining experience.

In a realm filled with delightful disorder, Poor Bunny offers a deceptively cute arcade experience as a bunny fighting against an endless obstacle course where every jump and miscalculation could be fatal.
That’s a great oyster tale! I’ve definitely made similar assumptions about “more expensive” equaling “better” when it comes to seafood. Live and learn, right? Speaking of competition, if you enjoy a good challenge and like trying new things, you might get a kick out of Basketball Stars. It’s a fun way to test your skills against others – just like your oyster taste test! You might be surprised at what you discover there too!
Hello,
The Austin Oyster Festival always sounds like a great time for seafood lovers, especially with all the live music and local vendors. If you’re planning a food filled weekend, it’s handy to compare other popular food spots too. For example, I recently found a detailed Panda Express menu guide with prices, nutrition, and deals for 2026, which is perfect for quick, affordable meals after a festival day. You can check it out here: https://thepandaexpressmenu.com/
Wow, that sounds like an amazing oyster experience! I can totally relate to overindulging when there’s a delicious variety on offer. Funny how the more expensive option isn’t always the best! Reminds me of how unexpected joys can be found in simple things. Speaking of simple joys, have you ever tried the Suika Game? It’s surprisingly addictive and a fun way to unwind after a big meal (of oysters, perhaps!).
This looks like such an amazing time at the Austin Oyster Fest – I can almost taste the fresh oysters from here.
