One of the things I love most about Austin is how many walking/hiking trails there are around the city! Walking around Lady Bird Lake is my personal fave. The Green Belt is also another great choice!

Swimming Holes - Outdoor Activities in Austin

Austin summers are HOT. Fortunately, we have quite a few amazing swimming holes in the area! These are some of my faves in Austin:

These swimming holes are located a little outside of Austin, but all less than an hour drive — makes for a great Austin day trip:

NOTE: Most are requiring reservations in advance. Some are even temporarily closed, so always be sure to check their website before planning a visit.

Go Camping in the great Austin Outdoors!

Camping is the ultimate outdoor activity! Austin has lots of great camping sites nearby, so pack your bags and check some out.

Bike Riding

Biking in Austin is super popular! Whether you bike through the city or on a trail, it’s a great way to get some exercise outside. 

If you don’t have a bike, you can always join a  tour or rent one:

We are fortunate to have so many lakes nearby, rent a boat, and get out and enjoy them! Lake Austin has many boat rental companies with several different kinds of boats to rent (party barge, ski boat, pontoon, etc):
