In honor of #NationalGrilledCheeseDay (oh yes, that’s a thing) on April 12th, I sought out to find the best grilled cheese in Austin, TX. And while it was a grueling task, I narrowed it down to the 8 best grilled cheese sandwiches in the city!
So, choose wisely this National Grilled Cheese Day and celebrate at one of these Austin cheese champs:
Austin's Best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Holy Cow. These grilled cheese are actually unreal and win the title of my favorite for sure. The owner was kind enough to give us a tasting of their Bacon Cheddar, Grilled Chicken and Pesto, a Veggie one, and my personal favorite, the Tomato Basil Pesto. They also do a Sunday Brunch that includes a Jambalaya Grilled Cheese (it’s won awards!!) and a Blackberry Cobbler Grilled Cheese!

Turkey, Havarti, lemon-infused arugula and blueberry jam, with a chevre spread, grilled on sourdough… SO GOOD. Their whole menu (which also includes cookie dough eggrolls) is mouthwatering. Another reason to visit here is that 10% of all sales are given to organizations that are fighting against modern-day slavery. Good food, good cause, win-win.

With sandwiches like the Burning Mac (Sourdough, Mac, Cheddar, and Yellowbird Sauce) and the Visa 206 (Sourdough, Cheddar, Gouda, and Balsalmic Apricot Fig) there are no bad choices on the Burro menu.

They have a tomato soup grilled cheese on their menu. Such a classic pairing: gooey mozzarella, muenster & swiss cheese with a delicious sun-dried tomato “soup” surprise!

Just the name of their sandwich, the “Grilled Cheesus,” cracks me up. And the restaurant has a really cool vibe as well!
