Houston is one of my favorite destinations for winter vacations in Texas. There’s just so much to do to get in the holiday spirit and enjoy the cool weather! One spot you won’t want to miss is the Discovery Green outdoor ice skating rink.
If you’ve got some shopping to do, head over to The Galleria. You can easily spend a whole day walking through the shops, scoping out the holiday decorations, and tearing it up at the indoor ice skating rink. Or, see the incredible holiday displays at Houston Zoo Lights.
11. Cruise Down to Corpus Christi, Texas
Much like South Padre Island, Corpus Christi is a great spot for a winter getaway in Texas if you want to enjoy a little peace and quiet near the ocean. Most people flock to Corpus Christi in the summer, so during the winter you’ll largely have the beach to yourself. Build a bonfire on the sand to roast s’mores, take long walks along the beach, and if you’re feeling bold, take a dip in the chilly water!
